MO - Caption reads, "Practice does it! Andmembers of the Negro
Community Chorus hold rehersals twice weekly under the direction of Rugh
Redd, who is her own accompanist in the absence of her brother, Rohn
Roland. At present they're working on a group of Easter songs to be
sung at the sunrise service Easter Sunday at the Boradway Baptist
Church." Ruth Lankford (Redd) PAILLET (1917-1993), oldest daughter of
Reverend Ernest S. REDD, Sr. and Doshia O'Nina (Johnson) REDD,
accompanies the Negro Community Chorus of Columbia, Missouri. She was
the sister of the musician John Roland REDD a.k.a. Korla Pandit

Elizabeth (Redd) HERNANDEZ PEPO (pictured 3rd from left in light colored
sweater), James REDD, Ernest "Speck" REDD of Des Moines, Pauline Marie (Redd)
WILLIAMS, and Dorothy (Redd) CLOUD. The Redd famiily moved from St.
Louis in 1922, when Rev. Redd became the minister at the Eighth and
Center Street Baptist Church in Hannibal. Ruth graduated from Poro
College in St. Louis, and with the help of Mrs. Annie Malone, left St.
Louis having already been hired to star in the 1939 movie, "Midnight
Shadow."
