Description |
HANNIBAL,
MO - Celia Anne Allen, better known in Hannibal as "Aunt
Seeley", was born a slave to the Greathouse family who moved to
Ralls County, Missouri in 1841. She was given the endearing nickname
"Aunt Seeley" not only for her advanced years but also because
of her many charitable works. She ended her days at 1916 Settles
Street in Hannibal where she lived with her son James Allen. Also
in the picture is her son Bill Allen of whom little is known and his
unidentified son. |
