Description |
HANNIBAL,
MO - J. T. Brown, an architect and teacher at Lincoln University of
Jefferson City, Mo., came to Hannibal and found work in his trade
helping with the UBF Hall and the Masonic Lodge in the Wedge area.
Such work was scarce so Brown worked for the cement plant where in an
accident he lost an eye and three fingers. From the money in the
settlement he and a partner, Charles McElroy started the McElroy
and Brown Transfer Company. After a few years, J.T. Brown bought
out Mr. McElroy and expanded the business into new directions. The
business has been in the Brown family since that time. |
