| Description | HANNIBAL, MO - The Wedge area, located where Broadway Extension and Market Streets met, was the site of a number of African American businesses through the years. This particular stone commemorates those businesses that existed in the area between 1920 and 1984. At the top of the stone is a memorial to James Thomas (J. T.) Brown, an local African American architect, who was responsible for constructing many of the buildings at the Wedge. Most of the buildings in the area have been demolished. |
