DATE OF ORIGINAL 1959-5
DATE OF DIGITAL 2006-2
DESCRIPTION ILASCO, MO - The Ilasco High School was built in 1925-1926, opening in the fall of 1926.  The last class, consisting of 18 seniors, graduated in 1959.  It was a typical small town high school with some graduating classes as small as one student.  It ran continuously except for the year 1946 when a teacher shortage forced the school's closure for that one year.  The high school students that year had to attend either the Tilden School or the McCooey Catholic High School in nearby Hannibal, Missouri.  These displaced Ilasco High School students were Joe Nemes, Derald Kennedy, Stephen Daniel Polc, Martin Kisel, John Krudy, Josephine Galluccio, Nelson Blohm, Louise Genovese, Shirley Mikula, Lawrence Mack and Bob Tatman.
