| DESCRIPTION | THE PLANT - Safety was very important. Here is a sign that workers are in the boiler ; boiler accidents were a great fear. Workers could die or be severely injured. The white letters on the red base (applied artificially because the photographs of the time were only black and white) are what the workers actually saw when they entered the Boiler House. |

| ORIGINAL FORMAT | Black and white photograph, 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" ; slight fraying on both right corners ; the color red has been applied to the sign, leaving the white letters in bold relief ; slight bleeding of the red color onto the edges of some of the white letters. The words "Atlas P C S W 22" are printed in the lower left corner. The picture is glued to a woven material that extends beyond the left side of the picture. The extension has a thin cardboard glued to it. The designation "1F" is written on the bottom of this cardboard addition. |
