DESCRIPTION THE PLANT - This is half of a picture of one of the limestone quarries of the Atlas Portland Cement Plant in its early years.  Removing this limestone required not only sledgehammers, pickaxes, etc. but it often included hefting large slabs into the horse drawn wagons pictured here.  Most of this labor was performed by immigrant laborers from Central and Southern Europe now living in the company town of Ilasco.  None of the employees pictured are identified.
