DESCRIPTION |
THE PLANT - This is a portion of No. 7
quarry after the large blast. In the first picture (#C10079), the
tree line behind the cliffs is confined to the left side only. In
this picture, the expanse of the trees extends across the width of the
picture. That gives a very good idea as to the power exerted by 2700
pounds of dynamite. Imagine how dangerous it must have been for the
dynamiters when setting such a charge. The two laborers in the
foreground are unidentified, but it is safe to assume they were probably
southern and central European immigrants living in the company town of Ilasco. |

Black and white photograph, 9 1/2" by
7 1/2" ; some yellowing ; slight curling along upper edge ; the
number "1279" is written in the lower left corner ; one small
piece on middle of right edge is folded back. The picture is glued
to a woven material background that extends beyond the left side.
The material contains several puncture holes (for insertion into a
