DESCRIPTION |
THE PLANT - This is 1/5 of a picture of
one of the limestone quarries of the Atlas Portland Cement Plant in its
early years. Seven railcars of the Hannibal Connecting Railroad are
waiting to be filled with limestone for the plant. This railroad was
owned and operated by the Cement Plant and was for the express purpose of
transporting materials from the quarries. On the left are two
overturned wagons and a horse which had probably been used to transport
the materials from the dig sight to the rail cars. |
