DESCRIPTION |
THE PLANT - This is 1/4 of a picture of
one of the limestone quarries of the Atlas Portland Cement Company in its
early years. A number of employees are visible, on the cliff top,
operating a piece of equipment on the center right, and just below the
equipment operator. None of these laborers are identified, but it is
a safe assumption that they are immigrants from Central and Southern
Europe brought to this country for the express purpose of working for the
Company. |
