DESCRIPTION |
THE PLANT - This is 1/4 of a picture of
one of the limestone quarries of the Atlas Portland Cement Company in its
early years. The two employees, identity unknown, in this
picture were probably immigrant laborers who lived in the company town of
Ilasco. There are a number of horse drawn wagons which would take
the product to the train cars. |

Black and white photograph, 9 1/2" by
7 1/2", 1/4 of a larger picture, approximately 38" by 7
1/2" ; some yellowing, image is smeared in center of picture ;
splashes of tiny white dots in several places ; the number
"1244" is written in upper right corner. The picture is
glued to a woven material background that extends beyond the left
side. The material contains several puncture holes (for insertion
