DESCRIPTION ILASCO, MO - John Sunderlik, his sister, and his mother left Slovakia in 1909 to join his father, Julius in Ilasco where Julius worked in the company shale pit. Anna was also Slovak.  It was in her father Stephen's house that the meeting creating the Dr. Martin Luther Slovak Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ilasco was formed.  Their wedding took place in this Church and  probably followed Slovak tradition by lasting three days with abundant food and dance, but the details have been lost.  The members of the wedding party are identified as follows unknown, unknown, unknown, Gizella Homolos (seated), unknown, unknown, John Sunderlik (groom, seated),  Anna Stimel Sunderlik (bride), unknown, unknown, unknown, and unknown.
