| DESCRIPTION | ILASCO, MO - Here is a family portrait of Mrs. Mary Loguda (standing left), her daughter Mary (standing right), and her two sons, Charles and Pete. Mary and her family lived in company housing called the Pump House, located in the LeBaume Hollow. Some of the housing can be seen in the background. To support her family, Mary worked in the Atlas Portland Cement Plant's sack repair department. Her husband had returned to Europe just before 1914 when World War I broke out and was never heard from again. In addition to her regular job at the plant, Mary also worked as a midwife for women in both Ilasco and Monkey Run. Mary later married Paul Lemesh and moved from Ilasco. |
