DESCRIPTION |
ILASCO, MO - Although the actual
wedding took place in Italy, soon after Pantaleone emigrated
to Ilasco where he worked for the Atlas Portland Cement Company. He
left behind his new wife Rosa who was pregnant. Six years later he
sent for Rosa and his daughter Daisy to join him in Ilasco. Rosa
took a poignant photograph of herself and her family before leaving
because she knew she would never see them again. At one time
Pantaleone worked at the plant while the family ran a grocery store and
took in borders. Later they sold the store and bought a farm which
Pantaleone worked after his shift at the plant. Altogether they had
13 children, all but Daisy born in Ilasco. |
