DESCRIPTION ILASCO, MO - The Genovese family was the largest Italian family living in Ilasco.  It started with Ponto Genovese who came  from Papanice,  Italy in 1908 to work for the Atlas Portland Cement Company.  He was followed in 1914 by his wife Rose and daughter Daisy in 1914.  This picture is taken at their eighty-acre farm located on a hill above Ilasco.  Before the farm's purchase they had earned a living through Ponto's job, a grocery store and taking in borders. They had 13 children in all, and they can be seen in this photograph.  They were Frank, Angelina, Mary, Patrick, John, Joseph, Santina, Sam, Louise, Armenia, Anthony and Theresa.  Ponto and Rose are also in the picture.  Missing from the picture is the first-born Daisy who passed away in 1920.
