| DESCRIPTION | ILASCO, MO - At the time of this picture Frank Cable had been the sole owner of the store he and Curd Fisher had operated since 1925. Officially, the store sold meat, groceries, shoes, clothing, and animal feed. Cable allowed the immigrant families to buy items on credit and pay when their paychecks were received ; in addition, the store became an unofficial "bank" for the immigrant population who were uncomfortable with Hannibal's banks.. |
