| DESCRIPTION | ILASCO, MO - This is a panoramic long distance view of the Atlas Portland Cement Company's employee town known as Ilasco. The majority of these buildings housed immigrant workers and their families. The immigrants came primarily from central and south central Europe. Although Ilasco was technically a "company town", the actual land upon which the town sat was not owned by the company ; therefore, within the environs of the town, the company had only nominal control. |
