DESCRIPTION |
STILLWELL'S ADDITION, a.k.a. Monkey Run, a
suburb of Ilasco - Steve Oslica was born in Sasa, Slovakia and immigrated
to the United States in 1914. He came to Monkey Run in 1920.
He started working for the Universal Atlas Portland Cement Company in
Hudson, New York, later transferred to Kansas City, Missouri (Cement
City), and finally transferred to Monkey Run. There he met and
married Mary Kitsock. They purchased the only store in Monkey Run
from his wife's sister and her husband (Mikulcik). She ran the store
during the day while he worked at the Plant ; they operated it together
the rest of the time. At one time this store was the hub of Monkey
Run. |
