Title Ink Drawing of Union Depot in Hannibal, Missouri
Date of Original Unknown
Date of Digital 19 October 2003
Description HANNIBAL, MO - Although this ink sketch was created earlier than the Mark Twain Zephyr Dedication, it shows that the Union Depot in Hannibal, Missouri, was an architectural showpiece with its clock tower (four clocks, each facing a different direction), its brickwork, and its hotel facilities (third floor, 22 rooms). It served as a railroad transportation hub from its opening in 1882 (ownership by three railroads : 60% Burlington Railroad, 20% Wabash Railroad and 20% Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad) until it was demolished in 1953 when the railroads decided to build a more contemporary station
