Date of Original | Unknown |
Date of Digital | 19 October 2003 |
Description | HANNIBAL, MO - This postcard shows the Mark Twain Zephyr in Hannibal, Missouri. On the engine above the door used by the train's crew, the number "9903" is visible. The Mark Twain Zephyr was not the first Zephyr built. The first Zephyr was numbered 9900, making this the fourth Zephyr built. This picture shows the articulated wheels of the Zephyr which made the uncoupling of the cars very difficult. Although no signs are visible, the cars are as follows : Injun Joe (the engine), Becky Thatcher (baggage car), Huckleberry Finn (dining car), and Tom Sawyer (passenger car). |
