FRIENDS OF THE HANNIBAL FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Board Meeting:  April 6, 2017, noon

 

Present:  President Carol Bridgeman (12:10), Vice-President Harriet Grubb, and Secretary/Treasurer Hallie Yundt Silver. 

 

Vice-President Harriet Grubb called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m.

 

Moved by Hallie Yundt Silver and supported by Harriet Grubb to approve the minutes of the Friends Board meeting of November 11, 2016.  Motion carried. 

 

Harriet Grubb opened and read a note from Claire Ehrlich thanking the Friends for the wedding gift.

 

Harriet Grubb reported that she and Leandra Bridgeman had audited the Friends books.  Harriet said their review was very positive. 

 

Hallie Yundt Silver provided the membership report, saying that Friends now numbered nine individual and three family memberships.  She asked the Friends Board to welcome Dee Michael.

 

Moved by Harriet Grubb and supported by Hallie Yundt Silver to authorize payment of invoices from the Library at $129.00 for the Christmas tree and $203.35 for Give-Away Books for Juniors at Chess Tournaments.  Motion carried. 

 

The Financial Report was included in the packet.  Moved by Harriet Grubb and supported by Hallie Yundt Silver to approve the Financial Report showing a balance of $1,159.47 as of March 15, 2017, and an adjusted balance of $827.12 once the two invoices are paid.  Motion carried.

 

Moved by Harriet Grubb and supported by Hallie Yundt Silver to authorize the Library to use Friends note cards as thank you notes.  Motion carried. 

 

Moved by Hallie Yundt Silver and supported by Harriet Grubb to approve the purchase of a $50 Walmart gift card as Cindy Haun’s retirement present and a $25 Walmart gift card as Caitlin Greathouse’s present upon completion of her Master’s degree in Library Science.  Motion carried. 

 

Hallie Yundt Silver provided the Director’s report.  She said that Library Flower Bed Clean-Up went well, and the Library is now looking for perennials (or already started annuals), particularly those that bloom after the daylilies.  She continued her report by reminding the Friends Board of upcoming events, including:

 

·         Adult Coloring Contest, ending on April 7th, with Leandra Bridgeman and Harriet Grubb judging the contest next week

·         Read-athon on Saturday, April 8th, at 3:30 p.m. (For all ages)

·         Planning Day on Wednesday, April 19th (Library is closed for staff retreat)

·         Library Tea on Saturday, April 23rd, at 2:30 p.m.

·         Two regional Library workshops, one on April 25th and the other on May 3rd.

·         Party in the Park on Wednesday, May 24th, in the afternoon (Summer Kick-Off)

 

Moved by Hallie Yundt Silver and supported by Carol Bridgeman to adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
