Board Meeting: July 30, 2014, 1:30 p.m.
Present were: President Katie Wright and Secretary/Treasurer Hallie Yundt Silver
Katie Wright called the meeting to order at 1:45 p.m.
Moved by Katie Wright and supported by Hallie Yundt Silver to approve the Minutes of previous meeting on April 30, 2014. Motion carried.
The Membership Report was provided as a printout. It showed seventeen Friends.
The Financial Report was provided as a spreadsheet. It showed the savings account statement balance at $710.19, as of June 16, 2014. Since then, $27 was deposited. Three invoices awaited payment, totaling $145.90. Hallie Yundt Silver reported that nothing awaited deposit.
Hallie Yundt Silver provided the Librarian’s Report. Topics included:
· Claire Ewersmann, the Library’s Assistant Director, will receive Missouri Library Association’s Outstanding New Librarian award at the convention in October.
· Kick-Off in the Park was successful. Photos may be viewed on the Library’s website. The Friends fundraiser grossed $60.33. After expenses of $31.90, it netted $28.43.
· HNB Proclamation was returned to the Bank and is on file there. A copy of it is in the red Friends binder on the shelves in my office.
· State funds have provided direct support of around $9,000 annually to Hannibal Free Public Library. This support is called “State Aid” and “A&E” or “Athlete’s & Entertainers Tax State Aid.” In addition, State funds help reduce our cost for the Internet. This is called the REAL program. This fiscal year, the Governor’s withholds affect Hannibal Free Public Library by about $24,000. We reduced the books and materials budget, limited the amount of capital projects, and cut most staff development funding in order to find local funding for Internet services this year. There will be an even higher budgetary impact next year if the Governor’s withholds continue.
Moved by Hallie Yundt Silver and supported by Katie Wright to approve payment of the following invoices: $25 for Molly Green’s baby shower gift card; $31.90 to cover expenses for the fundraiser at Kick-Off in the Park; $89 for the 10x10 instant gazebo donated to the Library. Motion carried.
